Promises Broken

Early winters are no more,
Snow is celebrated when it falls.
Never sustaining for very long,
We revell in its frozen, cold, softness,
sparkling,flakes,dancing in the wind,
falling upon our warm faces,
turned upward in expectant delight.
As the winter dwindles,
A mere speck in time,
We ignore the signs…
Warming trends, storms,floods,droughts,
Species eliminated,endangered, declined.
Water, our life blood…
Is wasted, polluted,
slowly evaporated, until non-existant.
Men in high places,
corrupted and shamed,
Make empty promises,
As we look to lay blame.
We are the answer,
But too blinded by greed,
Selfish intent, hypocrisy,need,
All will be lost,
If we do not, take heed.
